Q. How often will I have to wear my aligners?
A. Invisalign only works while you're wearing the aligners. It's recommended that you wear your aligners full-time, day and night, except to eat, brush and floss your teeth or as directed by Dr Moffet.
Q. How long does Invisalign take?
A. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of your case, which determines the number of aligners you need. The average is approximately 12 months, but only Dr Moffet can determine the length of your treatment.
Q. How can I find out if am suitable for Invisalign? A. Just contact us on 9891 5353 and we will be able to reserve you a time to meet with Dr Moffet.
Q. How much does Invisalign cost?
A. As with traditional braces, the cost will be based on the complexity of your case and the length of treatment. Invisalign costs only slightly more than braces and third party finance may also be available to spread the cost over several years if necessary. If your dental insurance plan covers traditional braces, it will typically cover Invisalign to the same extent.
Q. What are aligners made of?
A. Aligners are made of clear, strong medical grade plastic that is virtually invisible when worn.
Q. What do aligners look like?
A. Aligners are clear and look similar to tooth-whitening trays, but are custom-made for a better fit to move teeth.
Q. How does Invisalign effectively move teeth?
A. Like brackets and arch wires are to braces, Invisalign aligners move teeth through the appropriate placement of controlled force on the teeth. The principal difference is that Invisalign not only controls forces, but also controls the timing of the force application. At each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move, and these movements are determined by the orthodontic treatment plan for that particular stage. This results in an efficient force delivery system.
Q. Do I need to have my teeth professionally cleaned while I am wearing Invisalign?
A. Yes you will need to have your teeth professionally cleaned just as you would normally every 6 months or as advised by your Hygienist. When you are wearing Invisalign you will still get a buildup of tartar that needs to be removed. You definitely do not want to develop tooth decay or gum problems while you are having your teeth straightened.
Q. What if I want my teeth whitened after I have finished Invisalign?
A. Because you are an Invisalign patient you will automatically be enrolled as a member of our "Whitening for Life" Program for FREE. You will have a special Whitening Tray made just for you and receive whitening gel with instructions so you will be able to whiten your teeth whenever you like in the comfort of your own home. Each time you come in for your preventive Hygiene appointment you will receive another tube of whitening gel absolutely FREE!
